Some common terms and abbreviations many bridge players will know
Advancer = overcaller's or aggressor's partner
AFPS = a bid that activates Forcing Pass Situation. Indicated by the ∀ symbol after the bid.
Aggressor = Player who makes the initial Takeout Double
AID = A sequence that activates Inverted Doubles
ART = Artificial bid (it shows something completely irrilevant)
A/SH = Any Shape
A/ST = Any Strenght
BAL = balanced hand
BHD = Bad Hand (normally when evaluating distribution and/or middle and high cards)
BST = Bad Suit (vulnerability depended, i.e. Qxxxxx at FV, Hxxxxx at UV)
BTR = Bad Trumps
BW = Blackwood
CHKBCK = CheckBack
c.o.b. = choice of bids
c.o.g. = choice of games
CONC = Concentration (usually of strenght)
CONST = Constructive (full values, game possible but unlikely)
COMP = Competitive
ctrl = Control (A = 2, K = 1) or 1st / 2nd round stopper in a suit
cue = cue bid (usually void or SGL or A or K) i.e. second round ctrl at least
DBL = Doubleton Suit (occasionally also used as 'double')
DCP = Distributional Card Points (should never omitted when used)
DS = Dependent Suit (a suit which needs fit to set as trump)
EV = Equal Vulnerability, i.e. both vulnerable or not-vulnerable
F1 = Forcing 1 round, does not promise rebid
F = Forcing, promise rebid (not necessary game forcing)
FIT = (or fit) Shows Fit in suit x
FV = Favorable Vulnerability, i.e. not - vulnerable against vulnerable
GF = also FG, Game Forcing
GF+ = Forcing to Game or more
GI = also INV, Inviting Game
GI+ = also INV+, Inviting Game or more
GREEN = Not Vulnerable
GSF = Grand Slam Forcing
GSI = Grand Slam Inviting
GST = Good Suit
GTR = Good Trumps
H = Honor
TH = Top Honor (A or K)
HCP = High Card Points
IMP or IMPs = International Match Points
INV = invitational
INV+ = more than invitational
IS = Indipendent Suit (a suit able to play over void with at most one loser, i.e. semiSLD+)
JOS = Josephine Convention
KC(s) = Key Cards, usually 5
L = when used as suffix after numbers denotes loser
LEB = Lebensohl Convention
LHO = Left Hand Opponent
LST = Long Suit Trial Bid
LT = Last Train Convention
LTC = Losing Trick Count
m(s) = minors
M(s) = Majors
MAX = Maximun Hand
MRWD = Minorwood (the bid of the agreed minor at 4th level asks for keycards)
MIN = Minimum Hand
MP or MPs = Match Points
MSI = Mild Slam Invitation
LAW = Law of Total Tricks
N or NT = Not Trumps
NAT = Natural response or bid
NATSYS = Indicate natural bidding system
NEG = Negative
NEU = Neutral
NFB = Negative free bids
NF = Passable or Non Forcing bid
n/l/h = steps in reply to a shortness-ask, none/lower side suit/higher side suit (assuming only two unbid suits)
NSI = Non Inviting Slam bid
NSRSI = Non serious slam invitation (also "mild slam try")
NSt = No stop in suit
OM or oM = other Majior
Om or om = other minor
Opener = One who makes the first bid
OVERCALLER = One who makes the overcall
P or Pass
P/C = Pass or Correct
PD = Penalty Double (also the term "business double" is used)
PKCB = Preemptive Key Card Blackwood
PREE = Preemptive
Puppet = forces partner to bid the next step, but says nothing about distribution initially
Quacks = a term for Queens and Jacks to distinguish from controls Aces and Kings
Quant = Quantitative
RDWD = Redwood (after a minor sets, the bid of the very next suit at the 4th level asks for the Key-Cards)
RED = Vulnerable
RHO = Right Hand Opponent
R = Relay (asking for more informations)
RESPONDER or RES = Opener's partner
RKCB = Roman Key Card Blackwood
RLeb = Reverse Lebensohl Convention
RR = the Relay-Responder
RTRF or reTRF = re-transfer
RUB = Rubensohl Convention
S = Suit
Shortness or Short = Singleton or Doubleton Suit
SGL/xSGL = Singleton / Singleton in x
SI = Inviting Slam (usually small)
SL = Slammish (good enough to (at least) hope for slam)
SLD or semiSLD = Solid suit, semisolid suit: AKJ10xxx (7 cards) or AKJxxxxx (8 cards)
SO = Sign Off (not permitted to bid further)
SPL = Splinter (singleton or void)
SSI = Serious Slam Invititation or Serious Slam Try

STR = Strong (strenght in high card points is implied)
